Feeling

bismillah

The past two weeks have been a great break from the daily grind of hospital routine, and i’ve been blessed with the time to take a step back, change gear and focus on other important (and not-so-important) things. I must admit i’ve spent time in the hospital for project work unrelated to the daily service provision, which i guess could be construed as being extremely “geeky” of me, but i had to get the project work done at some point so i refuse to allow my hip alter-ego bully the nerd within me. They must learn to co-exist and share =)

I’ve gotten to know the beautiful Book at a renewed pace, and am feeling its resonance within my psyche with more clarity, alhamdulillah. I know that i’m slightly biased, but it really is fascinating reading in itself. The directness of it all- the stories, the recounting of events and turbulence and heights and falls of peoples and prophets from such a distant time, the warning and the promise – there’s a direct resonance with the heart. I can’t really put it into words, there is a resonance with something so core to your central being. The Qur’an speaks to your heart in a language which isn’t in a tangible, earth-bound form. I can’t claim to even be in the ball-park of understanding what exactly is going on, all i can say i recognise this to be the Truth, in a way that all the project work and phds, literature and academia of the world can never be.

And all praise is due to the Lord of the worlds =)

I couldn’t agree with you more. When a verse speaks to you, it truly does resonate through your whole body.
